Kamlock® type encapsulated seals consist of a silicone or Fluor elastomer core with a thin FEP liner. The range of encapsulated gaskets available at Merefsa are always used as static seals.
Product main features

- The main function of this product is to ensure watertightness
- PTFE offers excellent chemical resistance, pH0-14 (except for molten alkali metals and elemental fluorine), to oils, petrol, water, acids, etc
- Flat gaskets made of expanded PTFE meet the food regulation CFR 21 FDA177.2600 and the EC 1935/2004 regulation. They also comply with REACH. They can therefore be used in food and pharmaceutical environments
- Expanded PTFE is a soft and flexible material that adapts easily to irregular surfaces. It is ideal for use in sealing flanges that are damaged or have irregularities
- Expanded PTFE has excellent pressure resistance
- Expanded PTFE tolerates temperatures ranging from -240 and +260ºC with peaks up to 315ºC

Quality control of expanded PTFE flat gaskets
Thanks to these characteristics, flat gaskets made of expanded PTFE can be used for:
- Permit the sealing of flanges used for oils, petrol, water, acids, etc
- Enable sealing of smooth surfaces
- Enable operation in heat exchange systems
- Enable sealing of tanks
- To allow sealing between flanges which are at risk of breaking due to brittleness and pressure
Expanded PTFE seals comply with a series of food standards that allow use it in the food and pharmaceutical sectors. However, these characteristics also guarantee perfect use in the oil, chemical and gas industry
Use of flat gaskets made of expanded PTFE
