Merefsa joins GAVI with La Caixa

Merefsa joins GAVI for Vaccination against infant mortality through the La Caixa Microdonatives program.

2016 - Merefsa joins GAVI for Vaccination against infant mortality through the "La Caixa" Microdonatives program.

La Caixa,Merefsa has joined the business alliance to promote vaccination against infant mortality. We encourage everyone to get involved in this powerful project, where your effort will be rewarded so importantly. For each Euro that you contribute La Caixa and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation will multiply your contribution by four. Thank you all for joining this project.

"We can all play a role, big or small, in creating a world where no child dies from diseases that can be prevented by vaccines."

This statement by Nelson Mandela defines very well the objective that we pursue with the present call for everyone's collaboration in the fight against infant mortality in the world.

Almost 7 million children under 5 years of age die annually in the poorest countries, and more than half do so because of diseases that could be avoided with vaccines to which they do not have access due to lack of economic and health resources. Therefore, all possible aids are needed to accelerate immunization and thus prevent the death of more children.
We multiply your contribution by four

Immunizing a child with the 3 necessary doses of the pneumococcal vaccine has a cost of just over 8€. But with just 1€ you will already be helping a child be a little closer to receiving this life-saving vaccine.

La Obra Social "la Caixa" and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation commit to multiply the amount of donations by 4, quadrupling the efforts against infant mortality.

With everyone's collaboration, we can save the lives of many more children.

Objetive + help

Contributions will go entirely to the GAVI Alliance childhood vaccination program.

GAVI Alliance was born in 2000 as a public-private partnership whose mission is to save the lives of children and protect the health of the population by increasing access to vaccination in the poorest countries.

In 2008, la Obra Social "la Caixa" and GAVI Alliance created the Business Alliance for Childhood Vaccination, which channels contributions from Spanish and private companies in favor of vaccination of children. To date, the contributions of la Obra Social "la Caixa, together with the contributions of the employees of the entity and those of the companies adhering to the Business Alliance for Childhood Vaccination, have allowed more than 2,200,000 children to be vaccinated.

The International Cooperation program of the Social Work "la Caixa" monitors and guarantees that all donations are destined in full.

Infant mortality is closely linked to poverty and access to vaccination is a key instrument to combat both phenomena. A healthier population will be able to devote greater efforts to the progress and development of their region.
