The Tortosa English Festival (TEF), from April 9 to 16, will be attended by MEREFSA

MEREFSA supports the VI edition of the TEF

MEREFSA, sensitive to social needs, is committed to cultural events whose concern lies in the professional future of our youth and this year participates as a sponsor in the VI edition of the TEF

From the interest of our friend Santi Pelejà , English teacher of the Sagrada Familia De Tortosa school, and from the travel agency he manages: ENJOY EBRE the initiative was born ENJOY ENGLISH EXPERIENCE, so that young people can learn English abroad. Not being enough for him, the foundation began with his friend Paul O'Riordiain TORTOSA ENGLISH FESTIVAL ASSOCIATION where he serves as vice president.

The Tortosa English Festival It is a cultural initiative that has achieved, since it began in 2013, its objectives. Drawing on the collaboration between local entities, that first year he managed to crystallize his commitment to the training of young people living in the region, future professionals, so that they master English and other business languages, essential today.

After that successful first edition, the TEF has become an indispensable festival in les Terres del Ebre. Thus, during a week of the month of April, the most diverse activities aimed at the neighbors of Tortosa and Roquetes have been celebrated for five years and do not hesitate to participate actively.

Always in a playful and festive tone, contact with English is carried out through fun cultural initiatives that have been consolidated in each of the editions to become inescapable classics such as the debate contest or karaoke.

But the will of the TEF is to cover a wide range of neighbors of all ages and that is why activities are also dedicated to children and adults alike and an example of this are literary events where both can share Your stories by reading aloud.

Another of the classic events that has been consecrated during these years has been the Bar Quiz Night (The contest night at the bar) con éxito absoluto de participación y que congregó, por ejemplo, en la edición de 2017 a unos 300 vecinos que pudieron no solo disfrutar de una iniciativa colaborativa sino que también de una lengua cada vez más familiar como es el inglés.

Again, in its idea of being a transversal event that encompasses all manifestations of culture, gastronomic events such as the Irish Breakfast could not be missed, in which no less than two hundred and fifty people attended the aforementioned 2017 edition.

And as a final touch, the awards ceremony has also gained relevance in a ceremony in which the TEF sponsors together with the mayor deliver the awards to the winners of the different competitions. Now the TEF has reached its sixth edition and MEREFSA, sensitive to the cultural and social initiatives that are committed to the future of youth, could only participate as a sponsor in an event that expresses what is in their own DNA.
